The Cornflake Experience
Based in London, Cornflakes ‘Smart APP-artment’ is the only showroom of its type in Europe. Described as a full blown ‘Experience Centre’ it showcases the very best in high tech home automation. Starting out as home AV specialists, the business soon saw a gap in the market and started to develop their home automation business as new technology pushed its way into the home market.
As consumers became more tech savvy and enquiries to home automation increased – Cornflake were forced to ensure they were not only selling the very latest products put also all of their staff were fully educated on each one in order to keep their reputation as industry experts. In order to be able to showcase this new technology and show customers exactly what is possible within their homes, the Smart APP-artment was created.
The location is in a basement in central London, similar to that of many of Cornflakes customers, so that they can get a feel as to what is achievable in their own homes. Cornflake are not tied to any particular brand or supplier so the products showcased in the Smart APP-artment are always the best on the market and all dispensed advice is impartial. The product on display includes the very best in home control via tablets, a listening room, super wide screen cinema room, lighting experience room and a smart kitchen and lounge.
In their upstairs windows display, Cornflake wanted to highlight to use of switchable LCD privacy glass in residential applications. ESG have installed 5 panels totalling 4.5m split over two displays. One being a single window, the other is a mock patio door display. Switched via iPad controlled BMS (which connects into the low level switch input on the control box) behind each panel is a landscape view of London that finishes the window effect. The panels are controlled by one of ESG’s new HD controllers, allowing optimum performance and monitoring of the glass, the display has been set up to show the variable dimming control of the ESG Switchable TM HD control box.
